2023 Clergy Assignments

In addition to incoming Pastor Fr. William De Salvo, Bishop Ronald Hicks has assigned two parochial vicars to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church,
effective July 1, 2023.

Fr. Jose ("MM") Cerna

Fr. MM is currently Associate Pastor at Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst, and was formerly at St. Raphael in Naperville. He was ordained in 2020.

Fr. Jared Rutnicki

After graduating from Franciscan University, Deacon Jared worked as Youth Minister at Saints Peter and Paul. As a seminarian, he has served at Saint Joseph in Downers Grove, Saint Matthew in Glendale Heights, and Saint Mary in West Chicago. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 2023.

Bishop Ronald Hicks has assigned two Saints Peter and Paul parochial vicars to other parishes, effective July 1, 2023.



Fr. Nestor Sanchez will be pastor of St. Mary (Paxton), St. Joseph Mission (Loda), and Our Lady of Lourdes (Gibson City).

Fr. Mike McMahon will be pastor of St. Joseph (Manhattan).

Please continue to pray for our outgoing and incoming priests—and all clergy of the diocese—
as many prepare to begin new ministries.

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.
