St. John Vianney was born in 1786 in France. He came into a world that was hostile to the Catholic Faith, but his family nourished his spiritual life at great risk to their lives. John wanted to be a priest. However, he was not blessed with the intellectual gifts that were expected of the priests in his time. John was rejected from seminary, but he was determined to be ordained. John was finally ordained and sent to the remote village of Ars. Most of the people in the town had lost their faith. John, through his love and perseverance, transformed Ars into a spiritual bastion where countless souls flocked to make their confession before this holy priest.
